Hungary-Kazakh PMs agree on cooperation

Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and his Kazakh counterpart Karim Massimov have reached an agreement on supporting the launch of direct flights between the two countries, the officials said at a joint press conference today in Astana.

Orbán stressed cooperation between the two countries regarding nuclear energy and engineering services. The PM added that Hungary would offer scholarships for 200 Kazakh students. Orbán also stressed Hungarian oil and gas company MOL’s “flagship role” in the cooperation of the two countries.

Massimov said the talks went well beyond standard political dialogue and that cooperation between the two countries has grown stronger as a result of a meeting between Orbán and Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev earlier this morning. Hungary, as a member of the European Union, and Kazakhstan, as an important country in the Asia region, could form a closer strategic cooperation, he said.
