Budapest to Install 45 New Speed Cameras, Mayor Says

The capital has begun installing 45 new speed cameras in cooperation with the police, Budapest Mayor Gergely Karácsony said on his Facebook page on Monday, news agency MTI writes.
The mayor added: although the installation of speed cameras is not a municipal task, to reduce the number of fatal accidents, it is essential to have more cameras throughout the city.
"In addition to speed cameras, we are also working to make Budapest a safer place to travel through our crosswalk renovation program, new pedestrian crossings, and protected cycle lanes," he added.
Karácsony added that the long-term goal is to ensure that no one dies in a traffic accident in Budapest.
