Budapest Muni Council Clears 2024 Budget

The municipal council of Budapest approved the city's 2024 budget with balanced revenue and expenditures of HUF 448.7 billion at a meeting on Wednesday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

The budget was approved with a vote of 17 for.

Deputy-Mayor Ambrus Kiss said energy independence, food security, a homes program, and protecting waterworks would be the priorities of next year's budget.

The second-largest expenditure item in the budget is the HUF 75.5 bln solidarity contribution the city will pay to the central government, he added.
