Romania Gross Foreign Debt Rises End-May

Romania's gross foreign debt increased to EUR 157 billion at the end of May from EUR 144.5 bln at the end of 2022, the central bank (BNR) said on Friday.

The end-May figure includes EUR 110.78 bln in long-term foreign debt, up from EUR 97.72 bln at the end of last year, BNR said.

Another report from BNR showed that foreign direct investment (FDI) into Romania amounted to EUR 3.861 billion in the first five months of 2023, down from EUR 3.884 bln in the same period of 2022.
