Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó acknowledged China's extension of a visa exemption policy for Hungarian nationals by another year in a post on social media on Wednesday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

Chinese President Xi Jinping announced the extension of the visa exemption policy for 10 European Union countries, including Hungary, in Paris on Tuesday.

"We greatly appreciate this decision as it will contribute to the further development of our economic, trade, tourism and education ties," Szijjártó said.

He added that Hungarian consular services in China would cut the period for processing Chinese visa applications for business travel to Hungary to 48 hours from the 15-day deadline in the European visa code "in the spirit of good cooperation based on mutual respect".
