Romanian Q2 GDP annual growth hits record high

Romania's economic output increased by 13% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2021, compared to a 10% contraction in the same period of 2020, non-adjusted provisional data of the Bucharest-based National Institute of Statistics (INS) indicated on Tuesday.

The data confirms earlier flash estimates. On a seasonally adjusted annual comparison basis, gross domestic product (GDP) rose 13.6%, data showed.

On a seasonally adjusted quarterly basis, the economy advanced 1.8%, easing from a 2.5% growth in the first quarter. Overall, in the first half of 2021 Romania's GDP rose by an annual non-adjusted 6.5% and by a seasonally adjusted 6.2% year-on-year.
