Hungary has so far used about 15.5 million of the 28 million COVID vaccine doses that have been delivered to the country for first, second, and booster jabs, state news wire MTI reports, citing an update by koronavirus.gov.hu.

The website noted that 22 million of the 24 million COVIDjabs Hungary is getting in a joint European Union order have already arrived. It added that officials have ordered another 2 million jabs in the framework of the EU procurement for children aged 7-11 which will arrive this year and next.

Hungary has also ordered another 9.5 million Pfizer jabs in a joint EU order placed in response to the emergence of the Omicron variant. The country will take delivery of 3 million of those jabs in the second half of 2022 and 6.5 million in 2023. The order will include 1.5 million jabs for young children.

Data on the website show Hungary has taken delivery of all of the 10,874,511 Pfizer/BioNTech jabs from the initial EU vaccine order, 97% of the 1,723,610 Moderna jabs, 86% of the 6,513,460 AstraZeneca jabs and 91% of the 4,309,022 Janssen jabs. None of the half a million CureVac jabs from the order have been delivered.

Hungary earlier took delivery of 2,005,600 doses of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine and 5,200,000 of China's Sinpoharm vaccine.
