Hungary Trade Surplus at EUR 1.1 bln in May

Hungary's surplus on external trade in goods stood at EUR 1.1 billion in May 2023, according to data published by the Central Statistical Office (KSH).

The value of exports amounted to EUR 12.9 bln, and that of imports to EUR 11.8 bln.

The share of EU Member States was 77% in exports and 69% in imports, the statistical office notes.

Compared to May 2022, the value of export increased by 5.2%, while that of imports decreased by 5.4% in EUR terms. Hungary's trade balance improved by EUR 1.3 bln. 

The level of export of goods increased by 13% and the import of goods grew by 7.3% compared to April 2023.
