Government prioritizing afforestation

Afforestation is a real solution to improve lives and help reduce the effects of extreme weather, especially in cities, said Minister of Agriculture István Nagy at a tree planting in Eötvös Park in Normafa, according to leading business daily Világgazdaság.
He explained that the government pays special attention to the conservation and development of forests, including urban woodland.
He emphasized that in 2020 the Ministry of Agriculture, with its Settlement Afforestation Program, launched the largest inland afforestation initiative since the collapse of communism.
The minister recalled that, during the coronavirus epidemic, the number of visits to forests increased by 25-30%, especially in the vicinity of larger settlements.
