More than 1 GW was added to Hungary's solar power capacity in the first half of the year, bringing the total to over 5 GW, the Ministry of Energy Affairs said on Sunday, according to a report by news agency MTI.

The increase was close to the full-year 1.1 GW rise in solar power capacity in 2022, the ministry noted.

Industrial-scale solar park capacity now stands over 3 GW, while solar panels on more than 200,000 homes account for the rest of the capacity.

Hungary's solar power capacity could reach 12 GW by 2030, double the earlier target.
