Value of bank card purchases rises nearly 26% in Q4

The value of purchases in Hungary made with locally-issued bank cards climbed 25.8% year-on-year to HUF 2.719 trillion in the fourth quarter, rising faster than the increase in cash withdrawals from ATMs, data released by the National Bank of Hungary (MNB) show.

The value of cash withdrawals increased 8% to HUF 2.304 trillion during the period.

The number of POS terminals in Hungary stood at 238,760 at the end of December, up 18% from 12 months earlier.
