Modernizing single-family houses, which make up a significant part of the Hungarian housing stock, can bring significant savings both in the amount of energy used and in utility costs, writes business daily Világgazdaság.

Depending on the property type, utilities can decrease by more than HUF 1.5 million per year, according to the MBH Index, the latest analysis of MBH Jelzálogbank.

The replacement of windows, facade, and attic insulation, the conversion of the heating system, the use of renewable energy, or a combination of these could bring substantial savings, MBH said.
