GW Expands Páty Base, Upgrades Warehouse Tech

Logistics

Gebrüder Weiss (GW) will expand in the new PT2 hall of HelloParks Páty even before the start of its operations. GW has previously signed an agreement with the industrial property developer for 22,000 sqm and has now decided to increase the soon-to-be-occupied rental space to 32,000 sqm. As one of the industry’s leading companies, GW will become the largest client in HelloParks’ customer portfolio with this expansion.

Under the terms of the recent agreement, the logistics company will occupy more than 76% of the total 42,000 sqm of industrial space. According to their plans, the facility will be completed in the second quarter of 2024, enabling the company to move in during the summer. GW, which has a total capacity of over 90,000 sqm in several locations across Hungary, will also improve the efficiency of its customer operations with this expansion.

“The Gebrüder Weiss Group’s new logistics base is strategically important and will serve as a prime location for new business acquisition alongside the existing headquarters. The chosen location and the associated quality of service will provide us with the best possible solution for our operations. By using the latest warehouse technology, we can further increase efficiency at the new site,” said Balázs Bencsics, GW’s national logistics product manager.

HelloParks is currently working on constructing its eighth speculative building in Hungary with PT2 hall, which will be its first hall powered entirely by a heat pump system. The firm is committed to building warehouses that meet the highest standards of the Breeam New Construction category "Outstanding" rating and comply with the requirements of the EU taxonomy, as is the case with PT2 hall. The new industrial property is being constructed next to the 58,000 sqm PT1 building, which recently received Breeam "Outstanding" certification at the design stage and is in the process of obtaining certification at the construction stage. Therefore, PT1 could become the second development for the company to achieve the highest sustainability rating in this category, after the HelloParks MG3 warehouse in Maglód.

In 2023, HelloParks completed the construction of four new buildings with a total area of 174,000 sqm. These include the MG3 hall in Maglód, PT1 in Páty, and the FT6 and FT2 halls in Fót. The company currently has three developments underway, one in Alsónémedi and two at Páty, where the construction of the 42,000 sqm Big Box PT3 has already begun right next to PT2, which will be handed over in the second quarter of 2024. Already, 106,000 sqm has been leased in the three industrial properties at Páty, as several major international companies have chosen HelloParks beyond Gebrüder Weiss. The German chain DM took over its 18,000 sqm warehouse in PT1 in November 2023, followed by DHL Supply Chain, part of the DHL Group, which moved into the same building in early 2024 with 20,000 sqm of space, while Transdanubia will occupy a total of 24,000 sqm of warehouse and office space in PT3, which will be completed in the last quarter of the year.

“Providing tenants with the opportunity to expand within the park has been a crucial element of our sustainable megapark business concept from the outset. It is gratifying to see that this vision is already being realized and that our partners are growing with us, for which all conditions are present,” said István Pozderka, business development director and co-founding partner of HelloParks.

“Our expert team plays a crucial role in implementing our developments, enabling efficient operations and achieving environmental objectives. They also provide day-to-day support to tenants and ensure quality operations,” he added.
