A Ministry for Innovation and Technology's tender for electric bicycles will open for the fourth time from today; it has so far helped the purchase of more than 2,200 electric bicycles at a discount, State Secretary Attila Steiner announced, according to novekedes.hu.

The state secretary recalled that, in addition to protecting the environment, the aim of the call was to reduce the use of cars, to encourage cycling, and thus to improve the health of Hungarian families.

In the first three rounds, grants were awarded for the purchase of about 2,214 bicycles, with a total value of HUF 238 million, Steiner added.
