Hungary's 1st McDonald's to be Revamped

Food

Hungary's first McDonald's restaurant, the Régi posta utca unit, will be revamped in almost every aspect to celebrate the fast food chain's 35th anniversary in the country, according to a press release sent to the Budapest Business Journal.

The renewal of the restaurant, which is expected to finish by September, goes beyond the usual renovations of other units in the chain.

The construction and placement of the concrete slabs, weighing up to 300 kg, will be a major professional challenge during the renovation, the press release notes. In addition, the floor and walls in the McCafé area of the restaurant will be covered with natural wood panels, while the rest of the restaurant's dining area will be covered with terrazzo tiles, crafted and polished on site.

The interior will echo the elegant stone cladding of the restaurant's exterior, as the tables and the service counter in the restaurant will also incorporate granite elements. The exclusive look will also extend to the lampshades, which will feature copper.

"With the transformation of the Régi Posta utca restaurant, we also want to create even more experiential moments for our guests. The renewed restaurant is a gift for our loyal customers on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the establishment of McDonald's in Hungary," said

Zsolt Égi, managing director of Progress Restaurant Network, the operator of McDonald's restaurants in Hungary, about the renovation, noted that the renewed restaurant "is a gift for our loyal customers on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the establishment of McDonald's in Hungary".

He also added that the revamped restaurant will combine a digitalized guest experience with quality interior design elements.

The restaurant's interior is a collaboration between Australian design studio Landini and interior designer Géza Sass.
