Former U.S. ambassador shares details about Hungary’s crony capitalism
Speaking to a retirement club in Connecticut, former U.S. ambassador to Hungary April H. Foley told her audience that Gazprom uses mediator companies to bribe politicians, index.hu reported yesterday.
According to the online news portal, the openly Fidesz-friendly Foley served as ambassador between 2006-2009 in Budapest, when the socialist government was making efforts to tighten its economic relations with Russia while the currently ruling Fidesz party had criticized the Socialist government for their Russia-friendly economic policies.
