Demo in front of PMʼs house rejected

Péter Juhász (pictured), of opposition party Együtt (Together), has filed for permission to hold a demonstration in front of his own house, after being denied police permission to demonstrate in front of the house of Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.

The police said that the demonstration consisting of 20 people, which was supposed to be more like a press conference and would have been followed by Juhász dropping a letter into Orbán’s mailbox, could not be held because “it would infringe on the rights and freedoms of others.”

In the letter, Juhász called for the dismissal of Fidesz Caucus Leader Antal Rogán by Orbán, as Juhász alleges that when MP Antal Rogán was mayor of District 5, district property was illegally sold to associates of Rogán at very low prices.

SUPPORT THE BUDAPEST BUSINESS JOURNAL

Producing journalism that is worthy of the name is a costly business. For 27 years, the publishers, editors and reporters of the Budapest Business Journal have striven to bring you business news that works, information that you can trust, that is factual, accurate and presented without fear or favor.
Newspaper organizations across the globe have struggled to find a business model that allows them to continue to excel, without compromising their ability to perform. Most recently, some have experimented with the idea of involving their most important stakeholders, their readers.
We would like to offer that same opportunity to our readers. We would like to invite you to help us deliver the quality business journalism you require. Hit our Support the BBJ button and you can choose the how much and how often you send us your contributions.
