Hungarian university students place sixth at Solar Decathlon
A team of Hungarian university students has placed sixth at the Solar Decathlon Europe 2012 competition in Madrid, the Hungarian units of Siemens and Osram, who sponsored the team, told MTI.
The contest involved the construction of passive houses that rely solely on solar power.
The Hungarian team built their 45sqm house, dubbed ODOO, in twelve days.
Siemens' Hungarian unit covered one-quarter of the project's HUF 200 million cost and the state matched the amount. Contributions from more than 70 smaller sponsors covered the other half of the cost.
The team will rebuild the house on the campus of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics at the end of October.
