Hungary and Bavaria meet in Munich
Munich hosted the 18th meeting of the Hungarian-Bavarian Intergovernmental Joint Committee on Friday, where Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó discussed plans to develop further the already deep bonds between the two governments.
"It is not exaggeration to say that the more successful Bavarian industry and Bavaria is, the more successful Hungarian industry and Hungary will be," the Foreign Minister said, adding that “in the first eight months of this year, annual bilateral trade increased by 28%, including a 37% rise in Hungarian sales to Bavaria.”
The two sides agreed to continue financing the Andrassy Gyula German-Language University in Budapest, established in 2001. They also agreed on integrating the Hungarian Institute of Regensburg into the local university.
The Hungarian and Bavarian negotiators agreed that the EU's strategy for the Danube region approved during Hungary's EU presidency in 2011 should be "activated" in both economic and cultural terms.
