Mapei: Sales grow as building market improves

Mapei Hungary, the subsidiary of the Italian building material manufacturer of the same name, said today that its 32% growth of Q2 sales y.o.y. is an indication of a recovering construction market.

The company today announced a revenue of HUF 3.39 bln in H1 this year. Although the main source for growth was the result of EU-funded improvements in infrastructure, the company said in its announcement that there were also signs that the Hungarian residential market is growing.

“Based on our experience, we speculate that the residents of Hungary do trust in the future and are spending their savings on renovation,” CEO Béla Markovich said. His view is apparently supported by the 27% growth of the Mapei index, which measures the traffic of Mapei products.

The CEO said he is expecting further growth in the sector by the end of the year, based on his experiences of growing needs in H2 generally.
