Hungarians Book 8% More Guest Nights on Szallas.hu

Hungarian travelers booked 8% more guest nights at domestic tourism accommodations on Szallas.hu in January-March than in the same period a year earlier, the bookings site said on Wednesday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

The increase was driven by long weekends around the March 15 national holiday and the Easter holiday, Szallas.hu said.

Gross revenue per available room rose 13.5% to HUF 14,070, on average. REVPAR was HUF 21,000 at hotels, HUF 11,225 at bed-and-breakfasts and HUF 8,970 at apartment rentals.

Around 39% of guests stayed at hotels, while 25% stayed at apartment rentals. Around 37% of travelers visited spas.

The most popular destinations were Budapest, Eger, Pécs, Gyula, Miskolc, Szeged, Hévíz, Debrecen, Hajdúszoboszló and Siófok.
