Danubius Hotel Hungaria, the hotel with the most rooms in Hungary, announced designating its full capacity to host refugees from the Russo-Ukrainian war, according to a press release sent to the Budapest Business Journal.

The hotel opened its doors to refugees arriving from Ukraine via partner organizations on March 1.

The unscheduled opening of Danubius Hotel Hungaria took place well ahead of the planned spring opening. The hotel also provides meals for refugees.

The hotel could continue providing accommodation to refugees for weeks, the press release says.

The management of operating hotel chain Danubius Hotels noted that it is also exploring the possibility of providing additional accommodation.

"Our company cannot remain inactive in the tragic situation in a neighboring country. We feel it is our duty to help those fleeing the war and to contribute to their care," said Balázs Kovács, CEO of Danubius Hotels.
