The Budapest Public Transport Center (BKK) will raise the price of single tickets from HUF 350 to HUF 450 from September, Mayor Gergely Karácsony said on Facebook on Friday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

The price of a block of ten tickets will increase from HUF 3,000 to HUF 4,000, Karácsony said. The step is necessary to keep the price of transport passes unchanged, he added, noting that the price of single tickets has been the same for ten years.

The price increases are "a fraction" of inflation during the period, he said.
