Weather

Firefighters had to intervene at 197 locations due to Sunday night's storm, according to Dániel Mukics, a spokesman for the National Directorate General for Disaster Management (OKF), writes novekedes.hu.

Mukics said that firefighters were alerted to storm damage from late evening hours on Sunday, mainly in Pest, Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg and Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén and Heves counties, as well as in the capital.

Firefighters removed tree debris in several places, while electrical and telecommunications wires were damaged by stormy winds, he added. In one instance, lightning struck a family house, the roof structure of which caught fire, the spokesman said.

In Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg and Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén counties, there were still power outages on Monday morning. Mukics advised that if you find a damaged, broken wire or cable, do not approach it, but call for help.
