20% More Precipitation in First Half of Year

About 20% more precipitation fell than usual in the first half of the year, almost twice as much as in the first six months of last year's drought year, the National Meteorological Service wrote on its Facebook page yesterday.
The six-month rainfall exceeded 400 millimeters in a large area in Southern Transdanubia, in addition to mountainous regions, and this year's precipitation total reached 700 millimeters in the rainiest Kékestető.
The driest part of the country is the Southern Great Plain, where typically between 200 and 250 millimeters of rain has fallen so far.
It was noted that in the first half of the year last year, not even 100 millimeters fell in many places in Tiszántúl, and the amount of precipitation that fell in the first half of the year only reached 250 millimeters in a few places.
