Heavy rain hinders sunflower seed crop

Hungary's sunflower seed crop is expected to fall by about 20% this year due to poor weather conditions and heavy rain hitting the harvest, Hungarian business daily Napi Gazdaság reported today.

Water flooding the fields prevented farmers from harversting approximately 5-10% of the sown crops, József Vancsura, head of the National Grain Growers Association, informed the business daily.
