Hungary opens vaccination registration to foreign residents

Hungary will open registration for vaccination against the coronavirus to foreign residents without a national health insurance card from today, the country's chief medical officer Dr. Cecília Müller said at a daily press briefing yesterday, according to koronavirus.gov.hu, the government's official coronavirus website.
From the perspective of managing the pandemic, foreigners residing in Hungary should be subject to the same treatment as Hungarian nationals, and there is now enough vaccine available to inoculate them, too, Müller said.
She also noted that vaccination of 16- to 18-year-old Hungarians would start with the Pfizer vaccine after May 10. She added that Pfizer/BioNTech had initiated approval by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) of the vaccine for people in the 12- to 15-year-old age group and said the use of the jab would be expanded, too, in Hungary after it is cleared.
Registration for foreign citizens living in Hungary can be done on vakcinainfo.gov.hu, free of charge. The order in which people are vaccinated is not determined by the order in which they register, but by their vulnerability to disease caused by the coronavirus.
