Minister of Agriculture István Nagy announced measures the government approved to support farmers at a regular government press briefing yesterday, according to agroinform.hu.

The government will roll out mandatory reporting for imports of farm products that fall under a ban on agricultural imports from Ukraine, regardless of the country of origin, Nagy said.

Area- and livestock-based subsidies will be paid by the Hungarian State Treasury by May 31, while the allocation for the Széchenyi Card credit program targeting farmers will be raised by HUF 45 billion for the period until 2026, he added.

The government will increase the threshold for tax refunds on diesel fuel for farm machinery to 90%, leaving an extra HUF 1 billion with farmers, and it will enhance support for investments, the minister said.
