Péter Magyar confirmed that he would be running for the European Parliament elections on June 9 with the Respect and Freedom (Tisza) Party, according to a post on his Facebook page last week.

He also posted that he had submitted his party's registration request to the National Election Commission.

At his rally on March 15, Péter Magyar announced that he would run in the European Parliament elections in June, but he was already three days late since, on March 12, the President of the Republic Tamás Sulyok officially announced the municipal and EP elections would be staged on June 9, and only an organization that had already been formally registered could run.

Since Magyar didn't have a party at that time, the only option left was to join an existing formation registered before March 12.
