International reserves of the National Bank of Hungary (MNB) stood at EUR 36.972 billion at the end of March, EUR 726 million higher than in February, according to data released by the central bank on its website yesterday.

The stock of cash, deposits and securities in the reserves rose EUR 653 mln to EUR 28.908 bln.

The value of monetary gold in the reserves rose EUR 96 mln to EUR 5.258 bln.

There were no significant FX bond issues in March, but Hungary drew down EUR 147 mln from the European Union's SURE lending facility at the end of the month.

The financing is targeted at mitigating unemployment risks related to the pandemic.

The MNB's international reserves were EUR 1.405 bln under their level at the end of 2021.
