MNB discontinues HUFONIA Swap Index

The National Bank of Hungary published the daily fixing of its HUFONIA Swap Index for the last time on last Thursday, according to a release on the central bank's website.

The MNB statement says that "on Jan. 17, 2022, the Reference Rate Fixing Committee of the central bank of Hungary decided on the termination of the HUFONIA Swap Index."

Abbreviated minutes from the committee's meeting on Oct. 8, 2021, show that previous multi-round survey results revealed that the index was no longer being used by the market.
