MNB allocates EUR 2.15 bln of euro liquidity swaps at tender

The National Bank of Hungary (MNB) allocated EUR 2.15 billion of euro liquidity swaps at a tender on Wednesday, accepting all bids, news agency MTI reports, citing data released by the central bank.

The tender was the first of four the MNB is holding to ease end-of-quarter swap market tensions in Q3. The other tenders will take place on September 28, 29, and 30.

The central bank started the practice of holding the end-of-quarter tenders in September 2020 "to improve the effectiveness of monetary policy transmission".

MNB is not holding its weekly tenders for FX swaps providing forint liquidity between September 20 and 30.
