Romania c/a gap widens sharply in May

Romania's current account deficit widened to EUR 1.61 billion in May, from EUR 0.93 billion in the same month last year, the central bank reported Wednesday.

The goods gap expanded to EUR 1.82 billion from EUR 1.26 billion a year earlier and the services surplus narrowed to EUR 0.66 billion from EUR 0.84 billion.

Meanwhile, the primary income deficit rose slightly to EUR 0.59 billion from EUR 0.52 billion and the secondary income surplus shrank to EUR 0.13 billion from EUR 0.17 billion, the bank said.
