Electronic payment options increased in Q1

The number of electronic payment options increased significantly in the first quarter of 2021, based on the latest payment data the National Bank of Hungary (MNB) has released on its website.

In December 2020 approximately 123,000 physical and 24,000 internet acceptance points made up the payment card acceptance network of domestic payment service providers.

By March 2021, the number of the former had increased to almost 140,000, while the number of the latter had risen to almost 26,000, which is a very significant growth in three months.

By the end of the first quarter of this year, a total of 212,950 POS terminals were operating at acceptance points, the MNB said.
