Poland could reach 15 GW of installed solar in 2025

Green Energy

Poland is set to add around 2 GW (gigawatt) of new solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity in 2021 and reach up to 15 GW of installed capacity from this power source by 2025, the Institute for Renewable Energy IEO forecasts, Renewables Now reports.

According to IEO, Poland will have close to 6 GW of solar installations in operation at end-2021 and 8 GW in 2023. In 2025, the capacity could hit 15 GW.

The dynamics of the domestic solar market in 2021, the organization says, will be driven by prosumers, who will benefit from a continued government program supporting deployment, and solar farm operators who take part in auctions.

Data by transmission system operator (TSO) PSE SA shows that Poland's installed solar power at end-2020 reached 3,935.74 MW after 2,463 MW of fresh capacity additions throughout the year.
