One of the key goals of the National Energy Strategy is to make 90% of domestic electricity production carbon dioxide-free by 2030, according to origo.hu.

Hungary plans to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 in line with EU targets.

One of the goals of the climate protection action plan is to more than triple the capacity of solar power plants in the next 10 years, and by 2035, 200,000 households should have roof-mounted solar panels.

János Péter Horváth, president of the Hungarian Energy and Utilities Regulatory Authority, said: "The installed capacity of solar power plants has increased tenfold in Hungary in five years, and the trend will continue in the future."
