EC closes probe into restrictions on gas exports from Romania, Transgaz says

Energy Trade

The European Commission has closed an investigation into alleged restrictions on natural gas exports from Romania to other European Union member states by the national gas TSO Transgaz, the company said, according to a report by SeeNews.

Soon after its launch in 2017, the investigation was suspended due to the lack of arguments meant to support its continuation and eventually it was administratively closed, Transgaz said in a statement Tuesday, after the Directorate General for Competition within the EU Commission communicated its decision.

The investigation was aimed at the clarification of aspects with respect to a potential establishment of a cartel between Transgaz and other gas enterprises for market segmentation purposes, Transgaz said.
