Bulgaria signs deal for design of Chiren gas storage upgrade
Bulgartransgaz, the natural gas transmission and storage system operator of Bulgaria, has signed a BGN 5.3 million (USD 3.2 million) contract for drafting an investment project for the upgrade of the above-ground facilities of the Chiren natural gas storage with a tie-up including companies from Bulgaria, Germany and Slovakia, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said, according to a report by SeeNews.
The investment project should be drafted by the PGH-Chiren Engineering tie-up within ten months, the prime minister said.
After the investment project is completed, Bulgaria will aim to complete the upgrade by 2024, Borissov added. Chiren is Bulgaria's only natural gas storage.
