V4 Ag Chambers Call for Rethink of 'Farm to Fork' Strategy

Agriculture chambers of the Visegrád Group - Hungary, the Czech Republic, Poland, and Slovakia - called on the European Commission to review the European Union's Farm to Fork Strategy, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

The chambers argued that measures envisioned in the scheme will make the already critical situation for farm and food industry players even more difficult at a meeting in Prague.

Participants at the meeting said plans to scale back the use of pesticides and insecticides would "significantly reduce" the competitiveness of farm and food industry players in the EU.

The V4 agriculture chambers also urged measures to remove obstacles to the delivery of Ukrainian farm products and asked for support to make farms energy independent with a focus on the use of renewable resources.
