HUF 7.2 bln Paid out in Agricultural Subsidies
This year, the drought and the drastic increase in the price of input materials and feed presented serious difficulties to livestock keepers; therefore, to mitigate the burden caused by additional costs, almost HUF 7.2 billion were paid to affected actors in the pig and poultry sector in 2022 as part of animal welfare subsidies, the Ministry of Agriculture announced, according to profitline.hu.
The animal welfare subsidies aim to compensate animal keepers for the costs of additional obligations beyond the EU animal welfare regulations in the pig and poultry sector.
The Hungarian State Treasury has recently made payments based on more than 2,100 requests.
