Wheat crop close to 5 mln tonnes this year

Hungary's wheat crop will be close to five million tonnes this year, according to the most recent estimates, Minister of Agriculture István Nagy said at a harvest festival in Jászapáti (95 km east of Budapest), according to piacesprofit.hu.

Last year, Hungary's wheat crop was a fraction over five million tonnes. Nagy said estimates put this year's barley crop at 1.38 million tonnes and the rapeseed crop at 776,000 tonnes.

Last year's barley crop reached 1.4 million tonnes, while the rapeseed crop was 859,000 tonnes.
