This year's plum harvest is expected at around 50,000-60,000 tonnes, just under the average, in spite of spring frost and summer drought, the Hungarian Chamber of Agriculture (NAK) said on Friday.

After apples and morello cherries, plums are harvested in the largest quantity in Hungary, NAK said.

Plums are grown on close to 7,000 hectares in the country, mainly in Bács-Kiskun, Pest, and Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg counties.
