Farm, Food Sector Trade Surplus Reaches EUR 3.519 bln in 2023

Hungary's farm sector trade surplus reached EUR 3.519 bln in 2023, edging up 1% from the previous year, a report published by the Institute of Agricultural Economics (AKI) shows.

Exports of farm and food products increased by 1% to EUR 13.386 bln and imports rose by 1% to EUR 9.866 bln.

Grain accounted for 13% of the value of exports, feed for 12% and meat for 10%. Drinks, spirits, and vinegar made up 8% of export value and cooking oil and grease another 8%.

The agriculture sector's terms of trade deteriorated in 2023.
