The National Media and Communications Authority (NMHH) is launching a so-called sector inquiry into telecommunication service providers, the results of which will be used to decide whether regulatory or other intervention is needed in the area, writes profitline.hu.

According to the Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH), service providers in Hungary presumably have a uniform pricing practice in the field of SMS termination and bulk SMS, as their fees are approximately the same and high in international comparison.

If the authority concludes that intervention is needed in the Hungarian SMS termination market or in some of its sub-markets, the authority will take the necessary steps to eliminate the problem, NMHH says.
