ICT sector revenue rises 3.5%

Revenue of companies in Hungary's ICT sector rose an annualized 3.5% in the first quarter to HUF 961 billion, according to data released by the Central Statistical Office (KSH).

The number of full-time employees in the sector climbed 9.8% to 94,296. The average gross monthly salary of those staff increased 7.7% to HUF 730,000.

Mobile data volume jumped 46% to 182 petabytes, an increase supported by social distancing. Around 97% of data traffic was over 4G-LTE networks.

The number of voice calls initiated on mobile networks increased 2.9%, while the average call lasted for 3.8 minutes.

There were about 12.8 million active SIM cards in Hungary in Q1, or 132 for every hundred residents. About 9.4 million of those SIM cards were post-paid, KSH said.
