Pandemic boosts sales of summer homes in Hungary

Sales of summer homes in Hungary rose 20-25% to around 7,000 last year, broker Otthon Centrum said on Monday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.
Otthon Centrum analyst Gábor Soóki-Tóth said higher demand, boosted by the pandemic, continued in the summer of 2021.
Transaction numbers could exceed last year's, he added, noting that prices are up over 10%.
Properties around Lake Balaton now range between HUF 200,000 to HUF 1 million per square meter, with homes in Balatonfüred, on the north side of the lake, going for over HUF 600,000 per sqm, while homes in Balatonmáriafürdő, on the south side, can be had for HUF 300,000 per sqm.
