Construction output volume up 11% y.o.y. in January

The volume of construction output in January 2021 surpassed the previous year’s level by 11% based on raw data released by the Central Statistical Office (KSH).

Based on seasonally and working-day adjusted indices, construction output increased by 7.4% compared to the December data, in January it surpassed the nadir of May 2020 by 32.8%.

Compared to January 2020, output increased in both main groups of construction: in the construction of buildings by 10% and in civil engineering by 12.8%.

Output volume grew in all three divisions of construction: production increased in the construction of buildings by 21.4%, by 15.3% in civil engineering, and in specialized construction output increased by 3.1%.

The volume of new contracts concluded increased by 8%, within it the volume of new contracts for the construction of buildings fell by 32.2%, the volume regarding civil engineering works rose by 326.9% against the low base of January 2020.

The volume of the January end-of-month stock of contracts at construction enterprises was 11.5% higher than at the end of January 2020. The volume of contracts increased by 27% for the construction of buildings and by 2.2% for civil engineering works compared to the previous year.
