Buyers spent 7% more than last year, almost HUF 43 million, on building a home at the beginning of 2024, Duna House said yesterday based on sales data, according to profitline.hu.

However, based on the average square meter prices, HUF 30 mln may be enough in the observed county seats, regardless of whether the real estate goal is a house or an apartment.

Benedikt Károly, head of PR and analysis at Duna House, wrote that in 2023, the rise in real estate prices per square meter slowed down, but did not stop.

The national average increased by 8% to HUF 515,000 compared to 2022, and the amount spent on real estate exceeded HUF 40.2 mln.

The momentum returned in 2024, based on the sales of the real estate agent, the cost of building a home increased by almost HUF 3 mln compared to last year, on average, to HUF 42.9 mln, and the average per square meter increased by 10% to HUF 569,000.
