Romanian Jobless Rate Eases in February

Romania's unemployment rate stood at 5.6% in February, down by 0.1 percentage points from January, the Bucharest-based National Institute of Statistics (INS) said in a statement on Wednesday, quoting provisional data.

The number of unemployed persons decreased by 5.600 from a month earlier to 466,400. In February 2023, the number of registered unemployed showed 444,900, or 5.5%.

The jobless rate among women in February this year was 5.2% versus 6% among men.

The unemployment rate among adults aged between 25 and 74 was estimated at 4.5%.

Unemployment among people aged 15 to 24 remained high, at 22.1%.

Romania's active workforce is estimated to have reached 8.27 million people in 2022.
