Latvia Unemployment Rate Climbs in Q3

The unemployment rate in Latvia edged up to 6.5% in the third quarter from 6.4% in the second quarter, data released by the Riga-based Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) showed on Thursday.

In the corresponding period of 2022, the jobless rate stood at 6.9%.

There were 61.500 unemployed persons aged 15–74 in the third quarter this year, 4.900 people fewer than a year ago but 890 more than in the previous quarter.

Meanwhile, 30.9% or 425,000 people of the population were inactive, a decline of 1.800 over the year and of 5.900 when compared to the second quarter, data show.
